Clinton, Powell , private email , private server

COLIN POWELL DISPUTES HILLARY'S ACCOUNT

HILLARY AND SURROGATES JUST KEEP ON SPINNING

The Clinton campaign's attempt to confuse the voters by equating private email accounts with private servers took a hit from Colin Powell, an Obama and Clinton supporter, who finally had enough of the Clinton campaign using him as cover. Clinton has been repeating to anyone who would listen that what she did with her private server was the same as what Colin Powell did as Secretary of State. She went as far as to say that Powell advised her to do this. This is another lie by Clinton to try to cover up what she did with her private server. Powell finally responded that he had no such conversation with her. If she is smart she will drop the whole thing right now, she really does not have any credibility left on this matter.

All federal government appointees may use private email accounts, AOL, Verizon etc. for their personal email, this is the same email that we all have, they are allowed to use this for emails of a personal type with family, friends and non-governmental business. These servers will retain these emails for a very long time even after being deleted on your computer. Colin Powell had a private email account that he used for these matters. He used the government servers for government business.

All federal government appointees are to use government email accounts for government business. This for two reasons, one is they are a high security server that is constantly upgraded and monitored.  Also all communications are to be preserved for historical records and to provide access for freedom of information requests in the future.

Hillary Clinton did not use either of these types of servers. She purchased her own server which was housed either in her home or in a remote location in Colorado. Actually according FBI director Comey's testimony, she had as many as 4 different private servers, which were periodically destroyed and replaced with a new server. The fact alone that she had intentionally bypassed the requirements of the freedom of information act, and exposed top secret and other confidential information to be compromised should be enough to prosecute her, but that will never happen under the Obama administration because they must have known about this arrangement. In 2014, two years after she left the state department, she printed out 50,000 emails, and erased every thing else on this server. This would apply to the last remaining server, the earlier servers where never mentioned by anyone.

The whole matter is further complicated by the fact that the Clinton foundation has received many millions of dollars of contributions from foreign governments, especially middle east governments, at the same time as she was secretary of state. These contributions were often accompanied by large speaking fees to Bill Clinton by these same governments. While there are indications that indicate favorable treatment to some of these donors by the state department, there has not been solid proof linking these transactions. Some believe that this was the primary reason for the private email server.

But make no mistake, the Clinton campaign's strategy has been to blur the difference between a private email account and a private server. They have been aided by a coordinated effort by their surrogates and media to minimize the importance of the use of these private servers.

  1. if all emails were retained by the Whitehouse there is no guarantee that they would still exist.
    case in point
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bush_White_House_email_controversy

"Given the heavy reliance by White House officials on RNC email accounts, the high rank of the White House officials involved, and the large quantity of missing emails, the potential violation of the Presidential Records Act may be extensive.'

"Patrick J. Fitzgerald, while investigating the leak( Valerie Plame controversy) , found that emails were missing from the White House server.
"During the investigation into the firing of eight U.S. attorneys,[21] it became known White House staff was using Republican National Committee (RNC) email accounts.[22] The White House stated it might have lost five million emails."

so it is somewhat disingenuous when republicans criticize email retention.

  2. so, your point is, because some in the bush white house did not follow the proper handling of emails, negates the fact that Hillary Clinton intentionally and systematically used a private server to hide all her activities. So, if the republicans did some things wrong, we are now all free to not obey the law, I guess it is time for citizens to embrace this attitude and refuse to obey the laws of the land.

  3. so, which of those former white house officials are now running for president, .......Hillary Clinton is running for president, and past behavior is an indication of future behavior.

  4. no my point is that when republicans lost 5 million e-mails ---conservatives just shrugged and forgot about it.
when romney removed his entire record of all e-mails when he was in office no conservative cared.

"Donald Trump apparently just destroys sensitive emails. According to USA Today, in 2006, when a judge ordered Trump's casino operation to hand over several years' worth of emails, his lawyers said the Trump Organization routinely erased emails and had no records from 1996 to 2001."
"The fact is that Republicans, from George W. Bush to Trump to Jindal, like their private servers and could not care less about preserving emails, and in fact have actively worked to evade transparency over and over again."

unless there was some unreported rage from conservatives it seems that a private server (as you pointed out) is only a problem when Democrats are involved.

  5. to the third comment what was trump hiding when he deleted all of his e-mail?
so is trump's past behavior an indication of his future behavior?

  6. Private individuals, like Trump, are not required to preserve emails for the freedom of information act, you are not required to preserve emails, only government officials, also I don't believe any elected official ever had their own personal server that they alone controlled. I suspect that there are others, but not yet exposed.

  7. try jeb
    http://www.politifact.com/florida/statements/2015/aug/31/jeb-bush/jeb-bush-says-he-has-released-all-his-emails/

"Bush used the private address on a private server every year between 1999 and 2007, corresponding with constituents and conducting state business while using a server he owned and kept at the governor’s office in Tallahassee."

"The emails that Bush turned over from the private server, however, are only the ones he self-selected as pertaining to state business."

in effect he did exactly what republicans are attacking Clinton for.

  8. If this was illegal, Bush should have been prosecuted, the Bush's did a lot of much more serious things than that, and I am not a supporter of any Bush's, Don't try to dismiss the corruption of the Clinton's by comparing it to other corruption. All government corruption needs to be rooted out if our country is to survive.

    1. i am not diminishing anything Clinton did.
however for conservatives to ignore "their" guys while attacking Clinton merely shows that either conservatives have short memories or they do not care about conservatives acting badly.
Bush is not alone in this.
cristie, scott walker, romney, have had private e-mail and or servers.
i never saw any republican attack jeb for his private server and e-mail actions.
and in a perfect world if they did would republicans consider it very important?
      not a chance

    2. Dems will go to any length to justify the Clintons behavior which was really to conceal a sophisticated money laundering scheme.

    3. well consider
"While there are indications that indicate favorable treatment to some of these donors by the state department, there has not been solid proof linking these transactions."
so until there is proof one can only allege.
it is crystal clear that the republicans have used the same e-mail methods as Hilary has done.
