The Northwestern Lehigh school board voted unanimously to raise property taxes by 1.93%. This was the first increase in 7 years.

This years budget projects spending to be $47,358,745. up 9.4% from last year.

This years revenue is projected to be $42,958,177 up 2.94% including the tax increase.

While the board and administration would like to say that taxes need to be raised because of a slower increase in revenues, the fact that spending is expected to increase by 9.4% focuses were the problem lies.

A desire to spend on building expansion, new stadium renovations without regard to the limited increase in revenue results in dipping into the pockets of residents again. The new board seems to be set on a path of tax and spend rather than attempting to live within the means of the residents of the district.

It does appear that Northwestern Lehigh School district can look forward to annual tax increases for the foreseeable future.

The board also voted to approve the surveying and engineering for the stadium project to Terraform Engineering for $155,200.
