Republican 7th Congressional District debate.

FEW DIFFERENCES IN POSITIONS OF 2 CANDIDATES FOR CONGRESS

QUESTION IS, WHO CAN WIN IN NOVEMBER?

There was a debate last night sponsored by the Northampton county republican committee. It was held at the Brown & Lynch Legion Post in Easton.

The candidates are Dean Browning from Lehigh county, who has a long career in the private sector, having worked at Air Products, Coca-Cola, Harvel Plastics and New world Aviation where he is now the CFO.

Also Marty Nothstein, also from Lehigh county, who is a small businessman and farmer. He is well known as having won an Olympic Gold medal in cycling in 2000. He is married and has 2 children. He has served for 3 years as a Lehigh county Commissioner.

On the issues, both candidates were very similar in their responses. Both being conservative Republican Candidates.

Northstein hopes to serve on the Agriculture and small business committees if elected. Browning states he would hope to serve on the budget committee and Homeland security.

This debate was well attended by republicans who were very interested and enthusiastic. Also attended were a few democrats, who may have been envious of the well planned, well organized and fair event attended by a courteous and well behaved crowd.

Both candidates are qualified to be citizen representatives of the 7th Congressional District that encompasses Northampton and Lehigh County. Neither is a career politician. Browning has served in County Commissioner in the past and has run unsuccessfully for numerous county offices.

The big question for republicans is, who is the best candidate to be a winner in November. It is more important this year than ever before to hold the majority in the U.S. House of Representatives.
