STILL REPORTS OF PLANS TO SEND WESTERN TROOPS TO UKRAINE
PLAN TO RELIEVE UKRAINE FORCE ON BELARUS BORDER
While most of the EU and NATO members voiced their opposition to sending troops to Ukraine, there are still reports of plans to send French, Polish and some Baltic state forces to Ukraine. It is believed that they could be used to free up Ukrainian troops on the Belarus border and also to station at strategic areas in an effort to dissuade Russia from attacking certain key locations.
While we hear little from the U.S. on this matter, you can bet that they are encouraging such an effort, but want to stay low key until after the elections.
It is also becoming clear that a good portion of the proposed new money to Ukraine is being allocated to the CIA to engage in covert actions inside Russia and to assist Ukraine in covert actions.
Some in the western military are assuming that Russia would be reluctant to attack EU troops in Ukraine, that seems to be very unsound reasoning. We can assume that Russia will know when and where they are going to be stationed, probably in hotels in key cities, and may very well consider them priority targets.
After large demonstrations in France this weekend calling for no troops to Ukraine and demonstrators tearing up EU and NATO flags and waving French flags it may be an indication of the mood of the French citizens in this matter. I would expect it would be impossible to hide the death of French soldiers in Ukraine.
So, all these reports may be trial balloons to gauge public support, if so, they may already have an indication that most citizens in the EU oppose troops to Ukraine.
