Conservative Landslide in UK

BREXIT ASSURED, BLOW TO GLOBALISM

UK VOTERS REJECT FAR LEFT LABOR PARTY

Image result for boris johnson victory

Boris Johnson and the UK Conservative party has won a major victory. Johnson ran on getting the Brexit deal done by Jan. 31, 2020. Voters overwhelmingly rejected the Labour party which has fought tooth and nail to stop Brexit. It appears the conservatives will have a 364 to 203 majority over the labour party.

The win was accentuated by a huge shift of working class voters from the Labour party. Not only did they lose many seats but many other results were very close. They lost some seats that they have held since WW1.

This will give Johnson the ability to effect leaving membership in the European Union. This leaving has been delayed for over 3 years by those who really do not want to leave the EU. Many had believed that a revote would have stopped the leaving of the EU. Johnson would not agree to a revote as he believed it would undermine the results of the 2016 referendum. His answer was to have new elections with Brexit the main issue. It was a resounding success.

Many working class voters were tired of the EU rules that had stalled wages and opportunities. It seems to have been a tidal wave shift to the conservative party.

As for the EU, they also have been reluctant to agree to an acceptable deal for leaving or a renegotiation of trade. They hoped that this Brexit would not happen.

Johnson will now have the leverage to negotiate, because it is now clear that Brexit is going to happen.

UK needs to realize that the EU, which is struggling in many areas, needs a deal with the UK as much as they do. It is now time to start negotiations with USA on a independent trade deal. The U.S. is actually a more lucrative market than the EU. The U.S. has the largest and most active consumer market in the world. Johnson can now use the prospect of a trade deal with the U.S. as leverage with the EU. I believe the EU will be ready to make a deal.

As for the Scottish Nationalism movement which also won big yesterday, they should be offered the opportunity to partake in negotiations with the U.S. Would they rather have a deal with the EU or the U.S.? In the large picture negotiations with the U.S. could give them both.

As a sidelight of the election. Ruth Davidson, Scottish conservative leader, vowed to swim nude across Loch Ness if the Scottish Nationalist part won more than 50 votes. It is reported that they won 55. We will see if she will honor her pledge. Having seen some of the pictures of Miss Davidson, it most likely will be a non event.
