Covid-19 statistics per country.

UNITED STATES DEATHS VS OTHER ADVANCED COUNTRIES

DEATHS PER MILLION MOST RELEVANT STATISTIC

Coronavirus | WATE 6 On Your Side

We hear lots of statistics, many are interesting, but are they really relevant in a discussion on how the United States is doing compared to the rest of the world. We hear that we have the most cases, but there is no way of gauging how many are being tested in other populations. We also know that many cases are not reported. We can also assume that the statistics from some less developed countries may be very unreliable. So I would say that the most relevant number would be deaths per million of the population.

These are the numbers as of today:

1. Spain            16,972 deaths  rate per million, 363

2. Italy              19, 468                                       322

3. Belgium          1,629                                        311

4. France           13,832                                        212

5. Netherlands     2,643                                        154

6. U.K                 9,875                                         145

7. Switzerland    1,036                                          120

8. Sweden             887                                            88

9. Ireland              320                                             65

10. U.S.            20,580                                             62

This virus has hit most all countries world wide. The hardest hit so far has been the Northern Hemisphere. the Southern Hemisphere is just beginning to get more cases. It will have the advantage of more data, but may have less skill and ability.

Comparing countries is not an accurate comparison, due to population. To make a comparison of the United States we would need to compare to all of the EU to have a comparable population.

Near half of the deaths in the United States is concentrated in 3 eastern states.

Sweden is the only country which has not used lock-downs and severe distancing. There is some question that that approach would work in countries with high numbers of vulnerable populations. The United States estimates that 1/3 of the population would fall into the high risk category.
