How following protocols without thought has killed the elderly.

TRI-STATE GOVERNORS PUT CORNAVIRUS PATIENTS INTO NURSING HOMES

LACK OF COMMON SENSE KILLED MANY

Gov. Wolf, Sec. of Health: Pennsylvania on Statewide Stay-at-Home ...

The truth about the disastrous decision by the governors of New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania to put recovering Covid-19 patients into nursing homes is now coming to light. It is interesting that Pennsylvania governor Tom Wolf just made an executive order to give immunity to any homes for liability in the death of their residents.

It was in late March that these governors were being asked by many nursing homes to stop the forcing of recovering virus patients from being placed in nursing homes. These governors all refused and forced them to take in patients who were over their critical care but were not able to take care of themselves. This practice is a protocol that has been around for some time, but never used for a contagious disease.

Years ago my elderly mother fell and broke her arm. She had a bad leg due to polio as a youth and used a walker. None of her family had a home layout without stairs and they told her she could not go home, that she had to go to a nursing home until she could fend for herself. This is a policy that was instituted to protect the elderly from being place into a dangerous situation. This is common policy until people are well enough to become self-sufficient.

With the anticipation of an overloaded hospital environment, these governors wanted to get as many open beds in the hospitals quickly. Many people who recover form this virus are in a very weak condition for weeks, so they began forcing them out of the hospital and into nursing homes. These nursing homes did not have the facilities or the staff to deal with a highly contagious disease. This led to thousands of vulnerable nursing home residents being subjected to deadly social contact.

This is what happens when people adhere to protocols and guidelines without thought. This was obviously a thoughtless decision that they were warned about by the people who managed and ran these facilities. It has resulted in the needless deaths of the very population that should have been the most protected. Rather than closing down the state they should have been focusing on protecting the vulnerable.

It is estimated that 33% of the deaths nationwide have occurred in nursing homes. This is around 30,000 residents.

As of today, out of Pennsylvania's 4418 deaths from this virus, 3000 occurred in nursing homes. We also see that we have shut down the whole state, while the focus should have been to protect those who are vulnerable to this disease.

  1. For what reason would you put a Covid19 patient in a nursing home filled with elderly patients with existing health issues ?
