The country will not return to lock-down.

LIMITS OF QUARANTINE HAVE BEEN REACHED

WE WILL NOW LIVE WITH THE VIRUS NO MATTER WHAT

Florida coronavirus: Governor under pressure as images of crowded ...

We can expect that most all states will be completely opening up in the next few weeks. While there may be a few isolated areas of quarantine, it will not be reapplied to whole states with this virus. The public has had enough, particularly the younger set. If some people, those in the vulnerable categories, want to stay home and continue their isolation that is how it should be. That is how it should have been since the beginning.

The focus should have always been on isolating the elderly and those with health problems. This was known since the first days of this event. While much focus was on enforcing lock-down and stay at home orders, not near enough protection was placed in the nursing homes where the most vulnerable live. As for the younger infecting their older relatives, they have always had the ability to do that, without shutting down the country.

Many employers did lay-off their older workers for their own protection, a policy that could have been encouraged and protected by the government. Younger and healthy people should have been allowed to work. A one size fits all response that has inflicted long lasting consequences on the economy and may have resulted in very few real benefits. We really don't know if many lives have really been saved. We can only go by the predictions of the health experts whose record has not been stellar in predicting outcomes.

So, now we have to hopefully learn form this experience and move on. Life must go on. We cannot be frozen in some limbo between living and surviving. We can't go on with blame game to governors, health experts and the Trump administration, consider the whole affair a learning experience. We should be able to to do better next time. We can continue to be cautious with our contact with other humans and just learn to live not only with this virus, but the annual flu, which has killed this many before, and any new virus that will likely erupt in our future. It is unlikely that a total lock-down will happen again. It is doubtful that it will be accepted by the public a second time.

It is time for the politicians and media to put the political bull shit aside and work to move the country forward in a safe and predictable way. We can protect the vulnerable, although through incompetence or intent that has not been the case up until now. We can also understand that we may have created many more dangerous vulnerabilities to ourselves and our country by the unthinking response to one of the age-old facts of life.
