Experts move goal from,"flatten the curve" to what?

MASKS ARE NO GOOD, TO MASKS ARE MANDATORY

I GUESS THEY FEEL WE ARE JUST TOO DUMB TO SEE THE CONTRADICTIONS

Coronavirus: Colombia's biggest cities to lock down, sidelining ...

While I believe everyone sees the value in social distancing and good hygiene in dealing with this virus and any other communicable disease for that matter, are we being played as to the real goals of some?

We all started out with a 2 week shutdown to flatten the curve. This was intended to keep the hospitals from being overloaded with a huge influx of patients that would put everyone at risk of not being able to handle the medical care of anyone. Many expected this to be extended at least another 2 weeks. It is now 2 months and the end is not in sight. It is obvious that those in power at the state level will drag this out as long as politically possible.

We need to realize the virus, like most viruses, is not going to be eliminated. We need to live with these adversities. This is part of the human existence forever. We have many more tools available today than in the past and life needs to go on. Some believe we need to lock-down until their is an elimination of this virus through a vaccine, but we cannot be sure that such a vaccine is going to be available in the near future or ever.

Many expect the federal government to support society indefinitely, like socialism it will soon end in an economic disaster. People need to get back to work and go on living.

Social distancing and good hygiene is the best tool we have and this is what we may need to do for some time. We can do it.

Many place their faith in these so called experts, who as I recall swore up and down that masks were unnecessary for the average person, only effective for healthcare workers. They also told us that they could actually be harmful to average citizens, but not to healthcare workers. This was intentional false advice in the fear that everyone would grab masks and not have enough for healthcare workers.

Now scarves and any other covering is ok, and even mandatory. Does anyone doubt if they would have recommended coverings early on, like in the N.Y. subways, that lives could have been saved and hospital overcrowding could have been avoided. Did they think they had to be untruthful to protect us?

Everyone now knows what has to be done, give us good truthful advice and lets get going. Those at high risk need to be especially careful, not just with this virus, but with all communicable disease. There is still a strong sense of personal survival and the vast majority of people will do their best to protect themselves and their family.
